Allison Brooks Janney is an American actor born on the 19th of November 1959. Her work on the screen as well as stage have been praised over the course of her three-decade-long career. Janney has been honored with several awards, among them an Academy Award and a British Academy Film Award. Additionally, she received seven Primetime Emmy Awards. There were also nominations to win the two Tony Awards. Janney was born and raised in Dayton, Ohio. She was born in and was raised in Boston. She received a scholarship to take classes at The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art when she completed her studies at Kenyon College. Janney's television debut was in 1999. She played C. J. Cregg on NBC's political drama The West Wing (from 1999 until 2006). She was awarded 4 Primetime Emmy Awards for the part. Janney won The Primetime Emmy Award for 2014 Outstanding Guest Actress in an Drama Series for her performance as Margaret Scully on the Showtime show Masters of Sex. Janney was nominated for the prestigious six Primetime Emmy Awards, and she has won two times the Outstanding Supporting Actress in Comedy Drama Series.
